Our Focus Areas

Nurture a child

Protecting children from abuse and neglect is one of our biggest priorities. Our social workers use several strategies, including play therapy, to engage and help children in need. We also run programmes to equip parents with the knowledge and tools to provide for their children’s needs.

Family enrichment

We regularly facilitate marriage counselling and enrichment programmes to help families become more resilient. Where necessary, we also offer divorce consultations. Children are only removed from their parents’ care and placed in foster care or a CYCC as a last resort, and only on a temporary basis. This enables us to reunite children with at least one of their parents at a later stage.

Poverty relief and income-generating programmes

At CMR Gauteng-Oos, we strive to help people rise above poverty and become economically independent and have gardening and sewing projects that enable people to generate their own income. We also provide food parcels, blankets and clothing to help alleviate poverty.

Adoptions and provenance interpretation

We have a full-time social worker who specialises in adoptions. We assist childless couples and biological parents, as well as adopted children wishing to find out about their heritage. We also offer guidance around unplanned pregnancies.

Prevention Programmes

As part of our commitment to making an increased contribution to crisis prevention, we offer various programmes related to the prevention of drug and alcohol abuse.
